ROCK THE LOOK: Beyond Dresses - Holiday Party Alternatives

I love a dress just as much as the next person but sometimes I'm just not in the mood. Here're two cool holiday party looks for when a dress won't do.

Alternative 1: Rock a Tux

Black Tux

This LOOKS like a tux but it’s actually separates that I put together to resemble one. I got the @stevemadden blazer (yep, he makes more than shoes) @nordstromhillsdale and the pants @asos!

1️⃣ Mix to match. The key to mixing separates (if your goal is to make them NOT look like separates) is to not just match color but also fabric as closely as possible. In this case velvet ties the look together.

2️⃣ Shine bright like a diamond. This sequined pink cami adds just the right amount of sparkle and shine to a traditionally masculine look.

3️⃣ The future is female. Plus we make a tux look GOOD! Own it.

Alternative 2: Go Red or Go Home

SavvyClick Red Silk

Red silk is always a showstopper - especially for the holidays.

1️⃣ A solid win. Go for a solid color on the bottom (no distracting patterns) to keep the spotlight on the blouse (and YOU)

2️⃣ Like a glove. Choose very fitted pants - like these Burberry skinny leather jeans - for an edgy look. Or choose a pencil skirt which would also look stunning. Regardless, keep it fitted/close to the body for a streamlined look that will counter the volume of the blouse.

3️⃣ Bring on the bling. Accessorize with a statement necklace or chandelier earrings. Bonus points for a bold crystal-encrusted clutch.
